《义务教育课程标准实验教科书语文二年级上册》是以第三次全教会《关于深化教育改革,全面推进素质教育的决定》的精神为指导,以《全日制义务教育语文课程标准(实验稿)》为依据编写的。八组课文之后,安排了六篇选读课文,供学生课外阅读。最后是两个生字表。生字表(一)是全册要求认识的字,有450个。生字表(二)是全册要求会写的字,有350个。这两种不同要求的字分别在课后练习里标明。除了“识字”和课文外,在“语文园地”里也安排了少量要求认识的字。
