清源桥位于新都的南门河上，东边的桥墩上有三条龙并排在一起，它们昂首挺胸，眺望着太阳升起的地方，仿佛在等待着太阳的出现。西边的桥墩上三条龙尾翘得高高的，仿佛在告诉人们：新都是个好地方！远远望去，整座桥稳稳地架在龙身上，多么气派呀！桥栏上有不少桥柱，每一个桥柱上都有一朵一模一样的石莲花，每两个柱头之间是一幅幅栩栩如生的画，我数了数，右侧共有8幅石雕画，分别是：渔舟唱晚、行人失足、立志建桥……这些画生动地告诉我们：原来清源桥是明代状元杨升庵立志并想办法修建的，他真是新都人民的父母官啊！直到现在，新都的人们一提到他，自豪之情便油然而生。左侧有11幅石雕画，分别是：景观宜人、状元才女……这些画继续为我们讲述着杨升庵一生坎坷的故事，看到这一幅幅石雕画，我恍如身临其境，好像穿越到明朝，来到了杨升庵的身边。

这座独木桥经历了快半个世纪的沧桑变化，已经变了四个模样了。一开始只是一块又长又细的木板，人们过桥很困难，当人们走到中间时，模板一直在晃动，如同吊桥一般。之后人们又增加了两个木板，一块木板钉在旁边，另一块木板钉在中间。虽然人们在走的时候不那么难走，但是在下雨天的时候，木板就会很滑，再加上水越聚越多，人们已经过不了桥了。第三次是用石条搭成的桥，人们过桥时方便了些许，即使下雨天也不怕。随着科技的发展，这座桥最后变成了用水泥灌的桥，人和车子都可以通行。
